Retail
Our architectural vision is to echo many of the design elements from the rich history of Pabst Farms and the surrounding area.
This vision is becoming a reality at the new Market Place at Pabst Farms, the first phase of a comprehensive retail plan. Given the important role of retail as a catalyst for building a regional/national brand identity for the Pabst Farms development, the architectural design phase became a critical component.
A major influence was the original Pabst Farms building with its red roof, shed dormers, exposed rafter tails and steep pitched gable roofs. The scale, proportion and European “Old World” flavor of this building were incorporated into the functional parts of the Market Place buildings. Design elements were also taken from the old Summit School and historical buildings in the county area as well as fieldstone fence post and gate details common throughout the Lake Country area.
From the tongue-and-groove style roofing material on the canopy of the Pick ‘n Save entrance to the split-granite stone and tan color of the building’s exterior to the ‘signature’red roof, much attention was paid to historically significant details.
Other important details include four-sided architecture to ensure quality of materials and design from all sight lines. Each building has its own distinct look using color, materials and design elements as the unifying factors.
With a distinctive architectural plan the upscale Market Place at Pabst Farms stands apart from the usual convenience retail prototype.
